Scottish History and Heritage Tour

Alexandria has deep Scottish roots. On this special tour, visitors will learn about several of Alexandria's famous Scots like John Carlyle, General Edward Braddock, William Ramsay, and Dr. James Craik!

This tour combines stops from the Discover Alexandria Tour and Revolutionary War Tour. 

​

We will cover the Carlyle House, the Old Presbyterian Meeting House, the Ramsay House, plus Gadsby's Tavern!

Holiday History Tour

Step back in time and experience the holiday season as Alexandria’s residents did centuries ago! Our festive holiday tour takes you on a journey through Old Town’s cobblestone streets where you’ll discover how Christmas and holiday traditions evolved in this historic city.

 

From colonial celebrations to Victorian customs, you’ll learn about how residents decked their halls, the origins of festive foods and drinks, and where Alexandria’s citizens gathered to celebrate the season. Marvel at iconic landmarks adorned with wreaths and garlands, and hear heartwarming tales of holiday feasts and frosty traditions.

On this fun and festive tour, guests will discover:

 

  • The history behind the first Thanksgiving feast!

  • The story behind the scary guy named Krampus

  • George and Martha Washington’s famous Christmas

  • Why people kiss under the mistletoe!

  • Famous New Year’s Eve drops in different cities!
